SCENE BREAKDOWN
This was modeled, textured, and animated while at Mesmer back in 1999. I wanted to create a brass four-armed Shiva statue inside a Himalayan temple that came to life and imploded the reality around him. Since we didn't have a cloth ap at that time to do a deformation with, the silk shroud in front of the altar was a hand-animated grid, which came out really nicely actually. The wormhole that follows the explosion is a static cling shader with a glow applied attached to a conic section with the base deleted, rotated 90 degrees in on the x-axis and a nebula texture attached and then the entire thing rotate on it's local z-axis.
